HK–Singapore–Japan Joint Seminar
Discusses the Future of Urban Planning
Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong), participated in the SIP–HKIP–CPIJ Joint Webinar, co-organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP), the Singapore Institute of Planners (SIP), and the City Planning Institute of Japan (CPIJ). The online seminar brought together more than 110 urban planning professionals and scholars from different countries to exchange perspectives on emerging trends in smart city development.
In the webinar, Dr. Tang delivered a presentation titled “Driving Sustainable Smart Cities through Geospatial Intelligence and the Low Altitude Economy.” She shared Hong Kong case studies to illustrate how high-quality spatial data, digital management, and GeoAI are enabling planners and policymakers to better visualize, analyze, and anticipate urban challenges. Her presentation also highlighted how the low-altitude economy (LAE) introduces new opportunities and responsibilities for city planning, particularly in areas such as mobility, safety, and environmental management.
