Promotes LAE to Belt and Road Countries
Esri China (Hong Kong) participated in the Belt and Road Low-altitude Economy (LAE) Fun Day for diplomats on 2 October 2025 at Cyberport. In collaboration with the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (GBA LAEA), Cyberport organized the Belt and Road LAE Fun Day, with the staunch support of the Working Group on Developing Low-altitude Economy of the HKSAR Government and the Belt and Road Office of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government. This event brought together senior officials, consuls-generals, industry leaders, and low-altitude economy (LAE) innovators to explore future collaboration for smart city development.
During the event, Esri China (Hong Kong) hosted a booth showcasing how GIS and the ArcGIS-powered unmanned aircraft system traffic management (UTM) system support safe and scalable low-altitude operations. Demonstrations covered real-time flight simulation, flight path planning, and risk analysis — core geospatial capabilities underpinning Hong Kong’s LAE ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Sr Professor Paul Tsui, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong), joined the panel discussion on “Drone for Smart Livable and Sustainable City”, sharing how geospatial intelligence and UTM infrastructure strengthen air-traffic management and enable citywide low-altitude applications.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, Founding Vice President of the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (GBA LAEA), emphasizing Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector and the shared possibilities for Belt and Road partners in the emerging LAE opportunities.
