“Smart City Project Programme”
Strengthens Students’ STEAM capability
Organized by the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, The Smart City Project Programme Exhibition and Prize-presentation Ceremony was held on November 27, 2024, at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park. At the ceremony, Dr. Winnie Tang, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong), delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Geospatial Intelligence - A Key to Sustainable Smart Cities," emphasizing the pivotal role of GIS technology in shaping future smart cities. She underscored the significance of equipping young individuals with GIS skills to enhance their STEAM capabilities.

Esri China (Hong Kong), as one of the supporting organizations of the “Smart City Project Programme”, has been continuously supporting STEAM education in the Hong Kong education sector. To foster STEAM education in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity) and Esri China (Hong Kong) launched the Map in Learning (MiL) Program in 2015, with support from the Education Bureau to offer free school-based ArcGIS Online licenses to primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Currently, more than 250 schools and NGOs in Hong Kong have enrolled to the MiL Program.
