Cyberport Venture Capital Forum

 

Sustainability and climate actions have become critical priorities for individuals, organizations, and governments alike. To address these challenges, Cyberport has recently hosted a flagship event “Cyberport Venture Capital Forum” (CVCF), bringing together prominent experts and thought leaders to discuss innovative solutions to address sustainability issues. The Honorary Advisor of GIS Academy Sr Paul Tsui shared his views on the adoption of geospatial technology for driving sustainability of the smart city development in Hong Kong

 

The Director of Cyberport Dr. Charleston Sin acted as the moderator for the panel discussion on the CVCF GreenTech and Sustainability Venture Day lineup of distinguished experts in the field. Joining the event as panelists were Ir Dr. Cary Chan, JP, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Green Building Council; Professor Davis Bookhart, Director of Sustainability/Net-Zero Office at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Sr Paul Tsui, Honorary Advisor of the GIS Academy; Professor Sunnie SY Lau, Director, Head of Sustainability Research and Industry Collaboration at the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, Adjunct Associate Professor; Dr. William Yu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the World Green Organisation. Together, they brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the discussions, enriching the dialogue with their unique perspectives and insights.

 

Sr Paul Tsui's insights shed light on the significance of geospatial mapping tools as the most important weapon in the fight against climate change by citing a quote from David J. Hayes, Special Assistant to the US President for Climate Policy. He also emphasized the importance of nurturing geospatial talent and increasing data literacy among the next generation and recognizing the potential of GIS in powering and driving smart city development in Hong Kong.
