Construction R&D Forum – GIS Driving

Construction Digitalisation

The Construction R&D Forum hosted by the HKSAR Development Bureau and the University-Government-Industry Consortium (UGI)  discusses ways to bring applied R&D to new heights, raising the performance of the construction industry for the benefit of Hong Kong. The forum brought together about 400 scholars and stakeholders from the Government and the industry to exchange views on the promotion and adoption of applied R&D to enhance industry performance.

Dr. Winnie Tang, founder and chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong), shared her insights under the theme of “Smart Construction and Operation”.  In response to the need of speeding up housing delivery while maintaining construction safety, Dr. Tang has pointed out that implementing GIS throughout the construction project life cycle would enable better planning and design, construction, and operation and maintenance. With our IoT-integrated Smart Site Management System (SSMS), project managers are able to keep all key information available at a glance.
