URA x TWGHs' Young Leaders Programme
Cultivates GIS capability
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has partnered with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) in the Young Leaders Programme to nurture young talent with creativity and skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and project management. On November 26, 2022, more than a hundred TWGHs students participated in an ArcGIS Online training workshop offered by Esri China (Hong Kong).
GIS is an excellent research tool for STEAM education. GIS allows students to collect and visualize authoritative data about the question of interest, adding their own data to the map before performing a wide range of analyses on the data in question. To be equipped with this 21st-century skill, more than a hundred TWGHs members learned how to use ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Survey 123 and ArcGIS StoryMaps to perform data collection, analysis, and storytelling with geospatial intelligence. Teachers and students found the ArcGIS workshop enjoyable and informative. The eighteen secondary schools from the TWGHs will participate in the competition which aims to adopt GIS and STEAM capability in an urban renewal proposal.
TWGHs students attended the GIS training workshop and learnt the basic concept of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Survey 123 for the URA x TWGHs Young Leaders Programme.
