Sharing Honor with Valuable Clients
Dr. Winnie Tang, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong) is pleased and honored to receive an Honorary Fellowship from Lingnan University this year. On 30 October 2020, Dr. Tang attended the presentation ceremony with her family members, mentors and friends to share the joyful moment.
Dr. Tang expresses deep gratitude to her clients, family members and friends at the Lingnan University Honorary Fellowship Presentation Ceremony.
Dr. Tang places an emphasis on education for many years. For example, she launched Asia’s first Map in Learning (MiL) five years ago so that local primary and secondary schools are provided with free ArcGIS Online subscription to help students acquire analytical and problem solving skills with the powerful technology. In addition, university students are offered opportunities to participate in the Esri Young Scholars Award. Young entrepreneurs can join the Esri Startup Program to get GIS technology support in their business development.
“In the past few years, Dr. Tang has set up several scholarships and awards at the University of Hong Kong and different tertiary institutions. The scholarships aim to encourage creative GIS and smart city applications of artificial intelligence across faculties and departments. Tang Chui Wai Hing Project Prize is named after Dr. Tang’s grandmother, and the other GIS Award commemorates Professor Chor-Pang Lo, who was a "pioneer of GIS" in Hong Kong and the mentor of Dr. Tang.
Dr. Tang feels thankful and grateful to many people upon receiving the honor from Lingnan University, especially for the support of her parents and family members. She would like to thank the teamwork given by her colleagues in the company, and many like-minded members from public and private sectors at Smart City Consortium. Most importantly, Dr. Tang believes she wouldn’t have gone this far in her GIS journey and smart city development without the patronage from the clients and friends.
Dr. Tang would like to share a video message with all her clients, friends and family members and hope everyone will have a joyful and healthy Christmas and new year ahead.
