CSDI Awards 2025

Co-create Northern Metropolis

The Geospatial Lab (GeoLab), established by the Development Bureau, operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals with support from the Smart City Consortium (SCC), hosted the “CSDI Awards 2025 - Co-creation X Northern Metropolis X Spatial Data” Awards Ceremony at the Hong Kong Science Park on August 2, 2025. The awards encouraged participants and the public to harness various spatial data from the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Portal for innovative proposals to shape a smarter and more sustainable Northern Metropolis.

Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, Founder and Honorary President of the Smart City Consortium, addressed the participants by appreciating their innovative minds in leveraging currently existing CSDI data with GIS to give insightful suggestions for the development. Dr. Tang has also highlighted the decade long dedication to nurturing geospatial talent through the launch of the Map in Learning program in 2015 and the establishment of the GIS Academy in 2022.

This year the CSDI Awards gathered over 140 teams, including 290 students from more than 50 schools, to participate. They showcased creative proposals spanning urban planning, environmental sustainability, transportation, and emerging industries like the low-altitude economy.
