PolyU Explores GeoAI with
Global STEM Professors
The Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Geomatics (RCAIG) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University successfully concluded an international conference on the topic of 2025 Workshop and Tutorial in GeoAI Advancements and Applications on July 14-15, 2025. The workshop brought together leading global STEM professors and experts, providing a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange.
Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong) delivered the opening speech at the conference. She highlighted the huge potential of GeoAI, emphasizing how it can leverage emerging technologies, such as drones, that foster the development of smarter and more sustainable cities.
In the event, a milestone was achieved in strengthening academic and industry collaboration. Dr. Tang, representing Esri China (Hong Kong), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Professor Qihao Weng, Chair Professor of Geomatics and Artificial Intelligence at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who represented RCAIG. This MoU aims to deepen cooperation on GeoAI research and application, nurture local talent, and drive innovation in support of smart city initiatives.
