Map in Learning Program

Celebrating 10th Anniversary

Esri China (Hong Kong) marked the 10th anniversary of the Map in Learning (MiL) Program at the Learning and Teaching Expo 2025 (LTE 2025), held in early July. A long-standing partner of Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity), Esri China (HK) showcased MiL’s achievements and its continued commitment to integrating GIS and STEAM education in Hong Kong. LTE 2025 is a signature event of Digital Education Week (DEW), supported by the Education Bureau (EDB).

The Map in Learning Program was launched in 2015 through a collaboration between HKEdCity and Esri China (Hong Kong), with support from the EDB. In the exhibition at LTE 2025, we showcased MiL as a pioneer of STEAM education that aims to cultivate a GIS-based eLearning environment for primary and secondary school students and educators. More than 280 schools and non-profit organizations (NGO) participated in the program, and 15,000 teaching hours were offered to the learners. Schools and NGOs serving the youths across Hong Kong are invited to join the MiL Program, gaining access to school-based ArcGIS Online licenses that foster spatial thinking. Members of the MiL Program also benefit from exclusive entry to the GIS Academy.

In addition to the LTE 2025 activities, Digital Education Week featured an official kick-off ceremony at the Central Government Offices. The EDB expressed its gratitude to HKEdCity for their collaborative efforts in launching innovative projects that support digital education.
