Cutting-edge GeoAI Capabilities
The Esri User Conference 2025 took place in San Diego from July 14 to 18, attracting over 15,000 attendees from across the world. This year’s theme, “GIS – Integrating Everything, Everywhere,” emphasized GIS’s role in transcending boundaries by integrating knowledge, data, and analytics, and by empowering individuals and organizations to drive positive change.
Esri China (Hong Kong) led a diverse team of professionals from architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), urban planning, smart city development, and land surveying to participate in the San Diego conference. Notably, Mr. Jimmy Tong Lai Yiu, the 2025 Esri Young Scholars Award champion from the Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics Department at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, showcased his award-winning project “Assessing Rooftop Solar Energy Potentials in Hong Kong” at the Map Gallery during the conference.
The Esri UC 2025 opened with a plenary session led by Esri Founder and President Dr. Jack Dangermond, who underscored the transformative role of geospatial technology in shaping the future. “GIS professionals,” he emphasized, “are becoming critical participants in the evolution of our planet—helping maintain, manage, and integrate everything everywhere.” Dr. Dangermond announced the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG Award), a Hong Kong AEC company, Hip Hing Engineering Company Limited was honored with the achievement.
Dr. Jack Dangermond, Founder and President of Esri, delivered the keynote presentation at the plenary session of the Esri User Conference 2025.
GeoAI has been evolving and making ArcGIS a geospatial AI Platform. The plenary showcased impressive GeoAI features, including a live demo of ArcGIS Pro’s built-in AI Assistant (Beta) guiding users in selecting the right geoprocessing tools. Additionally, the AI Coding Assistant “ArcPy Assistant” allows users to generate Python script for geoprocessing tools effortlessly by using natural language commands, significantly reducing coding time.
The plenary session is now available via digital access. Registered attendees will have access to the content until October 17, 2025.
