“Saving Lives” through Map Dashboard
Suicide Prevention is a key global public health concern, and GIS technology has emerged as a technology in combating this issue. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (CSRP) of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has adopted ArcGIS to map and analyze the spatial patterns of reported suicide cases, coupled with socio-economic data. Besides spatial analysis, CSRP has leveraged ArcGIS Dashboards to establish a system of record for documenting reported suicide cases. The dashboard serves as a visual representation of key indices, providing researchers with valuable insight. It is also a system of insight for the researchers to identify the spatial statistical changes on the dashboard, and it serves as a system of engagement for them to share the territory-wide situation in Hong Kong.
