Construction Digitalisation Roadmap Launched

Construction Industry Council (CIC) Construction Digitalisation Award 2021 Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on 1 November 2021. Esri China (Hong Kong) as one of the product sponsors, had provided ArcGIS software licenses and comprehensive training to the participants. Dr Winnie Tang, founder and chainman of Esri China (Hong Kong), presented the awards to the winners of “Training/research institute” category. Meanwhile, our latest MoU partner Gammon Construction Limited was awarded the top “Gold” award for Main Contractor (category A). We would like to congratulate Gammon for their outstanding achievement on pushing digital adoption. The presentation ceremony is now available at for rewatch.

In the ceremony, CIC has unveiled the construction digitalisation roadmap, outlining the CIC vision of Smart Data Sharing being at the “core” of construction digitalisation and sets out how GIS, Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) and Common Data Environment (CDE) when combined can facilitate collaboration among all stakeholders on a city or project level. Dashboard of Smart Construction in Hong Kong, supported by Esri China (Hong Kong), has been launched together with the roadmap. The map sensitive dashboard showcases digitalisation adoption rate of the projects in Hong Kong, demand & supply of BIM personnel and MiC Projects status etc at a glance.

To achieve construction digitalisation, nurture more smart people is a must. HKABAEIMA offered BIM+GIS Program for Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP). Esri China (Hong Kong) provided ArcGIS software licenses to support the course, including ArcGIS CityEngine. This application gives town planner a three-dimension holistic view on designing urban environment. Dr Tang together with Ar Ada Fung, the President of HKABAEIMA and Mr Thomas Lee the President of HKIP were the Guest of Honours to present the certificates to the graduates on 8 September 2021.
