Agentic AI Mapping Application

introduced to Lingnan Students

Sr Prof Paul Tsui, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong), was invited to deliver a guest lecture for students at Lingnan University, where he introduced the latest development of AI+ GIS and Agentic AI in the field of data science. Lingnan University’s School of Data Science positions data science as an interdisciplinary field spanning computer science, statistics, artificial intelligence, and technology, making it a fitting setting for discussion on the growing role of geospatial intelligence in modern analytics.

In the lecture, Sr Prof Paul Tsui explained how GIS has evolved beyond digital mapping into a platform for integrating data, location, and analytics to support smarter decision-making. He also shared how AI+ GIS is helping users extract and analyze insights from imagery, video, and other spatial data, and introduced the emerging concept of Agentic AI — a new approach that enables natural-language interaction with maps and geospatial data through AI-powered agents.
