Interoperability in Chinese Made CPU
A panel discussion at the HK ArcGIS Launch Ceremony explored how localized GIS, cloud platforms, and AI can work together to support Hong Kong’s future development.
Moderated by Sr Prof Paul Tsui, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong), the panel brought together Mr Sun Hao Wen, Director of the Technology Innovation Management Office, China Unicom (Hong Kong) Innovation Research Institute; Mr Owen Chong, Strategic Advisor (Overseas Business), Inspur Cloud; Ir Jinhu Lu, President, China ARSC (HK); and Mr Patrick Chan, Senior Industry Solution Expert, Tencent Cloud.
Panelists shared views on topics including low-altitude economy, cloud services, GIS and surveying collaboration, and AI-enabled innovation. One of the key highlights came from Inspur Cloud, which emphasized the interoperability of ArcGIS Pro in Chinese made CPU environments. Mr Owen Chong noted that ArcGIS is performing well on the Hygon C86 CPU platform, underscoring its strong compatibility with trusted local infrastructure.
The discussion showed how localized GIS platforms can support secure and scalable deployment while opening new possibilities for collaboration, data integration, and digital transformation. Together, AI+GIS and cloud platform are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting smart city development and industry innovation in Hong Kong.
