HK ArcGIS — Localized Capabilities for Smarter Decisions

At the HK ArcGIS Launch Ceremony, Mr Kelvin Shum, Senior Director of Technology and Planning Department at Esri China (Hong Kong) introduced how HK ArcGIS is designed to support Hong Kong’s local needs through localized capabilities.

One major highlight is its Hong Kong-focused pretrained AI+ GIS models. Designed for local use cases, these models help users apply artificial intelligence to imagery and geospatial data more easily, supporting applications such as local transport identification, satellite imagery analysis, emergency response, and infrastructure or environmental monitoring.

HK ArcGIS also provides ready-to-use localized GIS data services, including Intelligent Road Network (IRN), 3D Pedestrian Network, territory-wide LiDAR data and more, making Hong Kong-related spatial data readily available for mapping, analysis, and decision-making. This helps reduce time spent on data preparation and supports more efficient project workflows. In addition, HK ArcGIS includes Hong Kong-focused geoprocessing tools developed for local requirements, including tools for handling, converting, and managing 2D and 3D spatial data. These capabilities help users address Hong Kong-specific workflows more efficiently.

HK ArcGIS also features localized map symbology, enabling users to present maps in a style more familiar and relevant to Hong Kong applications. Together, these localized capabilities help users apply GIS more effectively in smart city, planning, mobility, low-altitude economy, infrastructure, and environmental scenarios.
