The Power of Knowledge Graph

Enlightens Data Science Students

Spatial relationships are one critical class of relationships that represent the world around us, and knowledge graphs help us explore, analyze, and understand the patterns of relationships within a network. Sr Prof. Paul Tsui, Chief Executive Officer of Esri China (Hong Kong) delivered a seminar on April 1, 2025, titled “GIS Unlocking Location Intelligence for Smart Decision Making” at Lingnan University. The event attracted students from the Department of Computing and Decision Sciences, as well as the LEO Dr David P. Chan of the Institute of Data Science.

In the lecture, Sr Prof. Tsui emphasized the power of Knowledge Graphs within GIS, which illustrate the spatial relationships between individuals and events on a map.  It helps us explore, analyze, and understand the networks of data with more precision and less ambiguity. ArcGIS Knowledge facilitates the use of property graph databases that are spatially-enabled within ArcGIS applications. This innovative approach not only enhances data visualization but also empowers students to leverage location intelligence for effective decision-making in various fields.
