Efficient Construction Workflow
The low-altitude economy is transforming the traditional construction industry by introducing innovative technologies and practices that enhance safety and efficiency. The Construction Industry Council (CIC) organized “CIC – See What I See” - Low-altitude Economy: New Opportunities for Urban Development.” Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, founder and chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong), served as the panel moderator for this insightful luncheon held at the CIC-Zero Carbon Park on May 19, 2025.
The luncheon commenced with an opening remark by Ir Prof. Thomas Ho, Chairman of the CIC, followed by a keynote speech from Hon. Elizabeth Quat, SBS, BBS, JP, Legislative Council Member and Founding President of the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance. Hon. Quat explored the implications of the low-altitude economy (LAE) on the construction industry, emphasizing how drones can enhance construction safety, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
Following the keynote, a panel discussion featuring industry experts took place. As the panel moderator, Dr. Winnie Tang highlighted the LAE as a strategically emerging industry with significant growth potential. In this context, Dr. Tang discussed the applications of the LAE alongside the following panelists:
- Mr. Desmond Ho – Chief Executive Officer, Alpha AI Technology
- Mr. Song Hangyu – Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Shenzhen Keehang Tech Co., Ltd.
- Dr. Chen Fengwen – Deputy Head, Lower Airspace Economy Research Institute of International Digital Economy Academy
The luncheon concluded with a dynamic exchange of insights among the panelists, emphasizing the crucial role of drones in reshaping the construction industry by improving site monitoring and promoting sustainable practices.
