Geospatial Solution for HK

 

Co-organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and Cyberport, the Digital Economy Summit (DES) was held successfully at the Convention & Exhibition Centre in mid-April 2023. The Summit gathered over 100 renowned technology visionaries and industry leaders to drive the discussion on the theme of "Emerging with Resilience: Fostering a Smarter Future", and to exchange ideas on how the exponential growth of future technology in the metaverse, AI/cloud, 5G, smart city and more will affect/impact the new normal of smart economies.

Dr. Winnie Tang, founder and honorary president of the Smart City Consortium took the role of moderator at the Smart City Forum under the theme of “Advancing Smart City Development – GBA and Beyond”. Four Speakers, namely Mr. Chang Kwok Fai, Deputy Director/Survey & Mapping from the Lands Department, Dr. Jukka Viitanen, CEO, Resolute HQ Inc., Mr. Gerard Wolf, Chairman of the Sustainable Cities Task Force from MEDEF International, and Mr. King Wang Poon, Director of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities, Singapore University of Technology and Design shared their insights about the application of GIS and the associated technologies that drive smart city development.

Recently, Hong Kong showcased its strengths in innovation and technology at a series of innovation and tech fairs, including the first-ever InnoEX co-organised by the Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Esri China (Hong Kong) participated in the InnoEX at the Smart City Consortium Pavilion. At the booth, our company showcased the latest ArcGIS application with the 3D Pedestrian Network from the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Portal and the Smart Site Safety System (SSSS) for visitors.

 

InnoEX also served as a platform for ASEAN countries to promote smart cities development. ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Mainland China joined the Business Roundtable on ASEAN Smart City Development. Dr. Winnie Tang chaired the meeting, driving the conversation with the officials to share their experiences on innovation and technology for smart city development.
