Students who are studying at tertiary institutions in Hong Kong are encouraged to participate in the Esri Young Scholars Award (YSA) held globally each year. The competition aims to promote using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies to solve urban problems.
Entries submitted by students this year have been of high quality and some of them are making use of 3D visualization in their projects. Hot topics like smart city development has also been covered. As the 2021 Esri User Conference (UC) went completely virtual, the YSA champion showcased his project and shared experience with other participants online at the conference. YSA winners also won a summer internship place working at the Urban Renewal Authority (URA).
The 2021 Esri YSA Presentation & Award Ceremony was held successfully in mid-July at H6 CONET, Central. We were privileged to have Ir Wai Chi Sing, GBS, JP, FHKEng, Managing Director of the Urban Renewal Authority as our Guest of Honor. Sr Paul Tsui, CEO at Esri China (HK) gave a remarkable speech to kick-off the ceremony.
