From PolyU to GIS Leadership:

Sr Prof. Paul Tsui Advances HK’s Spatial Future

 

The story of Sr Prof. Paul Tsui, an alumnus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), reflects how PolyU helped nurture a GIS leader whose vision and leadership continue to contribute to Hong Kong’s spatial data development. A graduate of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Higher Diploma in Land Surveying and Master of Philosophy program, Sr Tsui built a strong foundation in land surveying, geo-informatics, and problem-solving skills that later guided him into the world of GIS and mapping technology.

 

Today, as CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong), Sr Tsui is one of the key figures advancing GIS innovation and spatial data development in Hong Kong. With more than three decades of experience in GIS and mapping technology, he has led initiatives that demonstrate how geospatial technology can create public value. From supporting interactive epidemic mapping during the COVID-19 pandemic to promoting the use of Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) and 3D GIS for smarter city management and long-term urban resilience, Sr Tsui’s work shows how GIS can help society respond to complex challenges with greater intelligence and clarity.
