Strategic Collaboration to

Accelerate the LAE Development

As a signature event celebrating Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) 70th anniversary, the “Intelligent Altitudes: HKBU Low-Altitude Economy Summit 2026” brought together industry leaders to chart a course for urban air mobility. Co-organized by the Working Group on Developing Low-altitude Economy of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and supported by the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (GBA LAEA), the summit underscored the region's commitment to high-tech growth.

A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between HKBU and GBA LAEA to accelerate low-altitude economy (LAE) development. Dr. Winnie Tang, MH, JP, Vice President of the Great Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance, witnessed the ceremony, noting that integrating GeoAI is essential to unlocking a trillion-dollar "blue ocean" industry for the low-altitude economy.

During the “Sandbox Project Pioneers” panel, Sr Prof. Paul Tsui, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong), explained that GIS creates a Common Operational Picture (COP) by integrating 3D city models and air corridors to ensure safe, data-driven flight planning.
