GIS Connects LAE and Smart Housing in HK
City University of Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (GBA LAEA), and Smart City Consortium (SCC) jointly organized a seminar on March 13, 2026 to examine how the low-altitude economy (LAE) can support the future of smart housing and property management in Hong Kong.
The event opened with remarks by Professor Anderson Shum, Vice-President (Research) of City University of Hong Kong; Ms. Ho Wing-yin, Winnie, JP, Secretary for Housing of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government; and the Hon. Elizabeth Quat, SBS, BBS, JP, Legislative Council Member and Founding President of the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (GBA LAEA). Their collective presence underscored the strategic importance of cross-sector collaboration in propel LAE development in Hong Kong.
A key highlight was the presentation by Sr Prof. Paul Tsui, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong). He delivered a presentation titled “GIS Empowering LAE for Smart Housing”. Sr Prof. Tsui shared expert insights on how 3D GIS serves as the foundational infrastructure for managing low-altitude airspace and enhancing property management efficiency.
