ArcGIS Supercharges Seamless LiDAR Workflows

Esri China (Hong Kong) and RIEGL successfully concluded a joint seminar - "Seamless LiDAR GIS Workflow: ArcGIS and RIEGL in Action". The event in January 2024 attracted 50 geospatial professionals from diverse backgrounds. The seminar aimed to explore  complete workflow optimization for cataloguing kinematic LiDAR collections using RIEGL RiMAP for ArcGIS Pro.

LiDAR serves as a significant source of geographic information, and RIEGL is a leading provider of cutting-edge 3D laser scanning technology for airborne and mobile applications. As an Esri Silver Partner, RIEGL and Esri have collaborated to streamline the workflow of LiDAR data processing and has seamlessly integrated RIEGL scan project content with ArcGIS Pro for immediate analysis.

RIEGL’s Business Development Manager Marcos Garcia introduced the capabilities of the RIEGL laser scanning devices to the audience.

During the seminar, RIEGL's Strategic Software Alliances Manager, Christian Sevcik, and 3D GIS Software Development Engineer, Kelly Gaussen, from Austria; along with Business Development Manager Marcos Garcia and Sales and Support Engineer Kam-ngai Kwok from Hong Kong, shared profound insights into cutting-edge LiDAR technologies for capturing precise and detailed geographic information. GIS Support Manager Vincent Yeung and Senior GIS Consultant Kevin Chan of Esri China (Hong Kong) showcased the seamless integration of LiDAR with ArcGIS for data management, analysis, and visualization.

Currently, the territory-wide LiDAR dataset in Hong Kong is available online for free. The Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) commissioned the acquisition of LiDAR data, covering all the territories of Hong Kong. This LiDAR dataset is now available on the Hong Kong Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Portal. Utilizing ArcGIS, the 67 billion points of the LiDAR dataset can be directly read, visualized, and analyzed effortlessly in any modern web browser.

Esri China (Hong Kong) will organize a series of seminars to explore the latest advancements in geospatial technology. To stay up-to-date with our events, please follow our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages.
