Open Data Hackathon Promotes the Use of CSDI Data
Young people hold incredible potential to shape the future. The Open Data Hackathon 2023 provided opportunities for the youth to create innovative applications and solutions for smart living. Organized by HKtag with funding organization, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and co-organizer, Cyberport, the Open Data Hackathon 2023 encouraged participants to utilize the open data on the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Portal and Open Geospatial Data by Esri China (Hong Kong) for effective applications to improve public utility services.
As a solution partner, Esri China (Hong Kong) provided hands-on workshops and ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Pro licenses to the teams in the competition. Meanwhile, Sr Paul Tsui, Chief Executive Officer of Esri China (Hong Kong) was the judge of the public stream of the competition. He was also invited as a panelist at the Open Data Conference cum Hackathon Appreciation Prize Ceremony with other panelists including Mr. Anthony Chiu, Assistant Government Chief Information Officer (IT Infrastructure), Ir Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport, Sr YC Chan, Head of Spatial Data Office, Development Bureau, and Ms. Jess Mak, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Market, Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong). Professor Witman Hung, JP, Executive Chairman of Chinese Big Data Society served as the moderator to lead the discussion on the topic of “Energizing Hong Kong for a brighter future with healthier communities and sustainable eTourism”.
