Dr. Winnie Tang, Chairman of Esri China (Hong Kong), gave her suggestions and responses on 2016 Policy Address and 2016-17 Budget through a number of newspaper articles recently.

 

 

Over the years, Dr. Winnie Tang has been taking the lead to advocate the need of a new economy in Hong Kong by leveraging on the innovation and technology. She believes that diversifying our economic base for sustainable growth of the Hong Kong society is of paramount importance

In her recent articles about the 2016 Policy Address and 2016-17 Budget, Dr. Tang gave a number of suggestions including promoting Smart City, Vertical Greening, IT Education, e-Health, Fintech, and Entrepreneurship.

 

On 13 January and 24 February, 2016 Policy Address and 2016-17 Budget have just been presented by the Chief Executive and the Financial Secretary respectively. It is encouraging to learn that there are some major boosts to Hong Kong’s innovation and technology industry including multi-billion dollar funds for university research, investment in the local start-ups and projects that improve people’s daily lives. However, there is still huge room for improvement in the IT industry and relevant policies of Hong Kong. Dr. Tang will continue to advocate for unlocking opportunities of ICT industry and fuel the continuous prosperity of Hong Kong.
