the 8th Greater China GIS Conference
The 8th Greater China GIS Conference, titled “The Application of GIS and Sustainable Urban Development” , was successfully held in the University of Hong Kong on 7-9th January 2015. Esri China (Hong Kong) supported this premier event by being its Silver Sponsor, and showcased the latest geospatial technologies and achievements at the exhibitions held at the venue to the participants.
The conference was organized by Hong Kong Geographic Information System Association (HKGISA), and co-organized by Centre of Urban Studies and Urban Planning, Faculty of Architecture, the University of Hong Kong, and the Geographic/Land Information System Research Centre, the University of Hong Kong. China Association for Geographic Information Society, Taiwan Geographic Information Society, and Cartography and Cadastre Bureau of Macau also supported the organization of the event.
Esri China (HK) exhibited the latest ArcGIS software and its applications to the participants.
In the 3-day conference, experts and professionals from Mainland, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong shared their insights on the development and application of GIS in urban planning and design of the four regions. Two Esri colleagues have presented the papers on Geospatial Big Data and WEB GIS during the conference and aroused discussions amongst the attendees. Overall speaking, the conference facilitated the exchange of ideas and cooperation of GIS sectors and helped to drive the advancement of GIS technology and applications in Greater China regions.
