Asia GIS Conference 2017 Successfully Concluded

With Esri China (HK) as one of its sponsors, the 10th Asia GIS Conference was successfully held in Hong Kong from 5th to 7th January 2017.

 

Academics and practitioners in GIS and Smart City related fields exchanged ideas in Asia GIS Conference 2017.

 

 

Themed “Future Smart Cities”, the event was organized by the Asia GIS Association (AGISA), the Hong Kong GIS Association (HKGISA), the Centre of Urban Studies and Urban Planning, HKUrbanLab and the GIS Research Centre of the University of Hong Kong.

 

Dr. Winnie Tang, JP, Chairman of Esri China (HK), met world renowned scholar in GIS, Professor Michael Batty, University College London, who is one of the keynote speakers of the conference.

 

 

It has been a worldwide trend to adopt "Smart City" development for promoting a talent-based economy and enhancing the quality of living in recent years. GIS technology has been extensively applied in the domain and there are many success stories and experiences available across the world to be shared.

 

The conference has successfully served its purpose by providing a platform for academics and practitioners in GIS and related fields to exchange ideas and share views on future smart city development, which can improve the livelihood of people in future. During the event, attendees were also fascinated by the cutting-edge GIS technology, software and solutions for Smart City shown by Esri China (HK) in the exhibition area.

Asia GIS Conference is a bi-annual program organized for GIS academics and professionals in Asia Pacific region. Since 1994, it has provided a multidisciplinary network and forum for people involved in GIS teaching, research, development and applications to interact with each other and exchange ideas, information and achievement on the latest advancements/issues in the rapidly changing technology.
