Managing Director of Esri China (HK), Sr. Paul Tsui attended the opening ceremony of STEAM VR Experience Centre at The Boxes in Hong Kong on 22 April 2018. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) education aims to strengthen students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills across different disciplines. The idea was first proposed by the government in 2015 and was further supported in the 2016 Policy Address. In support of the policy, Esri China (HK) has put in great effort such as the Map in Learning Program to develop, promote and sustain excellent learning resources in STEM education for our next generations.

Further, Esri advanced STEM education by integrating GIS into school classes since GIS tools and techniques can effectively lead to understanding cross-disciplinary phenomena and solving problems rooted in the real world. The education concept was explained in an eBook titled Advancing STEM Education with GIS [PDF]. We are helping more students make use of ArcGIS Online to learn STEM-related subjects, while teachers are encouraged and supported to use ArcGIS Online for teaching purpose.
