Transport Department Wins 2019 SAG Award

Transport Department — the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stood from the crowd to receive the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the Esri User Conference 2019 after a fierce competition among entries submitted from around the world. The SAG Award recognizes users who have shown vision, leadership, hard work, and innovation which improves the world and set new precedents throughout the GIS community each year.

Senior representatives from the Transport Department were invited to attend an award presentation ceremony held locally on 27 September 2019. Esri China (Hong Kong) is very pleased to compliment the effort and hard work paid by the Transport Department, who can apply and make wise use of GIS technologies to build an intelligent road network (IRN) for people in Hong Kong.

As mentioned by Mr. Ricky Ho, Chief Engineer/Smart Mobility, Transport Department at the ceremony, GIS has helped the Department monitor, analyze and visualize road traffic data more effectively. Esri China (Hong Kong) and the Transport Department will continue to work together with the use of GIS technologies for a better transport network in Hong Kong.
