Over 60 professionals attended the “How Real-time Operational Intelligence can Build a Smart City Joint Seminar” which was co-organized by Esri China (HK) and OSIsoft LLC on 25 September, 2015.

Attendees listened to the expert advices on building Smart City Applications by GIS.

Mr. Ken Leung, GIS Solutions Manager from Esri China (HK), Ms. Ann Moore, Director of Regional Development, Greater China and India from OSIsoft, LLC, and Mr. Patrick Lee, Vice President, Major Project Controls from Sempra Energy, presented the audience information and expert advices on building a Smart City by using GIS, business intelligence and other relevant technologies.

In particular, sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT) serve as the infrastructure of many Smart City applications and services, and a lot of real-time data with location and time stamp will be generated from them. In the seminar, Mr. Leung demonstrated the powerful capability of Esri ArcGIS to integrate and process real-time location data with an interactive map view for a wide range of applications. This convincingly showed that GIS is an ideal platform to explore, organize and analyze real time spatiotemporal data for prompt responses and informed decisions in a Smart City.

Overall, the event achieved an excellent turnout and was well-received by the attendees.
