Overview

Esri takes social responsibility as an integral part of its business. The Company's enduring slogan 'GIS: Understanding Our World', and its actions over the years demonstrate this.

We, at Esri China (HK), also inherit this excellent corporate culture in caring our local community with the spirit of 'To give is more blessing than to receive'. We think that it is equally important to be a good corporate citizen as a good industry player.

We fulfill our social responsibility by focusing on specific societal issues, including community economic development, education, environment and employee well-being.

Community Economic Development

Esri China (HK) and our staff members are actively involved in a wide variety of community services including fund raising for NGOs; advisory bodies for government, tertiary institutions and NGOs; and public affairs.

For over 10 years, Esri China (HK) and our staff have sponsored and supported the annual “CyberRun by Rehab” organized by the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation to raise fund for meaningful rehabilitation services.

Esri China (HK) is committed to bridging the digital device in the community. While promoting the adoption of IT and ‘GIS for Everyone’, we make conscious effort to make those technologies accessible to the community as a whole, especially for the disadvantaged groups. We joined hands with the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) to have launched the Map Version of Hong Kong Access Guide to provide useful travel information of attractions for tourists with disabilities - promote Hong Kong to the world as an accessible metropolis for all.

Education and Innovation

Esri China (HK) strives to foster local innovation and nurture new talents by building a robust IT ecosystem. Over the years, we have held or participated in activities including: technology awareness seminars and workshops; internship scheme, sponsorship in research activities and mentorship program for tertiary students; career talks and promotion of IT and geospatial industry and profession; activities of industrial and professional associations.

We are accredited the “Manpower Developer” Award by the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) in recognition of our commitment and continual efforts in manpower training and development. Since the establishment, we have trained over 500 IT and GIS professionals. We are proud of the contribution to the IT industry and will continue promoting a lifelong learning culture within our Company.

We have established “Esri China (HK) Scholarship” for Geography and Resources Management (GRM) student of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) student of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University who attained excellent academic performance in GIS related courses since the Academic Year 2012/13.

We also sponsored and supported a number of local and international events including World Summit Award Grand Jury 2011 – Hong Kong, Second International Conference on Utility Management and Safety, 30th Anniversary Celebration of HKU Centre of Urban Studies and Urban Planning, GIS Day, Geography Day, and many other forums and activities.
